There are a number of interesting Documentaries and Movies on the Market. Most of them unknown to the western public. Here is a selection of your Webmaster. It's important to keep an open mind watching these movies. Some so called Documentaries, in fact all had a preset storybook with the whole content made up in a foreign country before it was actually filmed in Cambodia. The Webmasters Choice is "Holly" and "City of Ghosts".

A young Foreigner gets stuck in the middle of notorious K11, once one of Phnom Penh's busiest Prostitution Venues. Here one could find all ages ready for Sex. When he had to sleep in a Brothel's Guestroom he got in contact with a young Girl that was just kidnapped by Khmer Pimps and forced into Prostitution. He took pity in the underaged Girl and she saw a saviour in him. A real eye opener. If this would happen today (possible) this guy could be in big trouble.
2. The Virginity Trade
A NGO financed Movie on Sex Trafficking and the misery associated with it.
3. Same Same, but different
A young German and his experience when he comes to Cambodia on a typical Backpacker Holiday and falls in Love with a young Khmer Girl which lives in the iconic "Buding", a former Housing Bloc and showpiece from the 60s. A Lovestory where western and eastern cultures crash head on.
4. The killing Fields
A classic based on the real events when the Khmer Rouge took over. Cambodia is still struggeling 3 decades after the end of the Khmer Rouge to find on it's feet again.
5. Les gens Riziere
In english the movie would be called "The Rice People". It shows a typical Life of a Khmer Family in rural Cambodia in all it's joy and tragedy.
6. Odora
A Movie that doesn't need any Storybook or Movie Stars. The Cambodian People are filmed without any words but impressive musical background in their daily life. One cannot resist to love the unspoiled nature of the Khmer People. Let's just hope they can maintain their Lifestyle and Culture through the massive impact of the western greed and Culture.

Two women are featured in the film, grassroots activist Somaly Mam and politician Mu Sochua. Filmed over a four year period, the incredibly moving Redlight focuses on the personal stories of the victims and two remarkable advocates for change in a nation that lived through the Killing Fields.
